Northants’ Triple League
The Northampton Area Triples League was formed in 1984 with just seven local flat green bowling clubs, Northampton County Ground, Northampton West End, Express Lifts, Manns, St. Crispin Hospital, Kingsthorpe and Whyte Melville.
The league was very much due to the efforts of the late Arthur Capon and now consists of five divisions with 40 teams drawn from clubs in and around Northamptonshire. Those clubs involved, some of whom have three teams, are listed below together with links to the respective club websites;
Abington, Brackley, Byfield, Bugbrooke, Carlsberg, Cogenhoe, Cold Ashby, Daventry Tigers, Daventry Town, Desborough, Earls Barton, Harpole, Heyford, Kislingbury, Kingsthorpe, Northampton Express, Northampton West End, Roade, St. Crispin,
West Haddon, Whyte Melville, and Wootton.
In 2024 the original website and domain name were ceased due to reasons beyond our control so it was decided to purchase new hosting and re-brand the league to encompass the geographic locations of clubs. The league is now referred to as the Northants’ Triples League.
Northamptonshire Indoor Bowling Association
For those of you that may want to continue bowling when the outdoor season closes!
Bowls is undergoing a quiet revolution in Northamptonshire with NIBA challenging the stigma and perception around the game, in particular the image of being a past-time just for retired people.
One of our main development strategies is to create a new structure for youth development across Northamptonshire that will enable us to promote, develop and sustain the involvement of young people in the sport of bowls.
We will also be reaching out to our wider community, for example schools and youth groups with the associated aim of increasing participation in bowls by under represented sections of society, eg ethnic minorities, disabled youngsters.
English Bowls Umpires Association
The EBUA is the unified governing body for qualified Bowls Umpires in England. With over 500 members, our umpires are graded at different levels including Markers, Regional, National and International Umpires. We are responsible for appointing Umpires to any events as requested by the local, national and international governing bodies of the Sport of Bowls.
Our training and development program is intensive, from the introduction of new candidates to experienced and international officials. We strive to continually update our skills and knowledge and apply the latest innovations to the best of our ability. We provide our members with guidance, support, access to resources and opportunities to further their personal growth and development.
